Public-option proponent and New York congressman Anthony Weiner has called on members of Congress who oppose the public option to voluntarily give up Medicare. This strikes me as beyond silly. Does he think that people who question Amtrak subsidies should be barred from the Metroliner? Since the answer to that may — frighteningly enough — be yes, let me ask another one. Does Rep. Weiner believe that opponents of the Bush tax cuts must return them to the Treasury?
