Election Night

Polls Close in Pennsylvania and Florida

Polls have now closed in Pennsylvania and Florida — two critical swing states that Donald Trump hopes to turn red.

The western Florida panhandle, a Republican stronghold that was the last region of the state to finish voting, will struggle to supply Trump enough votes to make up the significant lead Hillary Clinton built by running up big margins in Democratic-leaning areas of the state, such as Miami and the I-4 corridor between Tampa and Orlando.

New York Times analyst Nate Cohn reports that Florida could be “extremely close,” with Clinton a “tiny favorite.”
