Oh good grief. I read a headline saying China was relaxing its tyrannical one-child policy. Great! No more forced abortions? No more female infanticide? People free to plan the size of their own families?
Nope. From the Washington Post story:
The policy will be slightly relaxed so that couples will be allowed to have two children if one of the parents was an only child, Xinhua reported. Currently, both parents must be sole children to be eligible for a second child.
Well, la de da.
Because of the long-term oppression, many younger people are only children, meaning more will be able to have two kids (assuming the enforcement bureaucrats get the memo). But the real bottom line is that China’s procreative tyranny continues.
