Liberal Fascism

BNW & LF

From a reader:

Forgive me if you’ve covered this before:

I’m sure many people have pointed out that Brave New World has many, if not most, of the components of Liberal Fascism.

My question is, did Huxley see a connection between Progressivism, Fascism, and Socialism?

Perhaps I’m reading too much into it, but his choice of names for his characters is interesting (especially since in the Brave New World  people were limited to a choice of a small number of government approved names).  In a world where Henry Ford has replaced God, the characters have names such as:  Bernard (as in Shaw) Marx;  Lenina Crowne,  and Benito Hoover.

This would suggest that Huxley saw Hoover, Mussolini , and Lenin as being simpatico.  Can we conclude that Huxley would have agreed with your thesis?

Me: I am about to get on the road to deliver grandchild to grandmother. But I do have thoughts on this and yes, Brave New World does play an important part in the book. If readers have thoughts they want me to post when next online, feel free to send along.
