From a reader:
jonah,
i’m a lead at a barnes and noble in new jersey (i order books for my sections) and i can vouch that there’s no “vast bookstore-manager conspiracy.” your new book is on ‘backorder’ which means we can order it for a customer, but we do not stock it in our warehouses. this is an issue with your publisher and barnes and noble corporate, definitely not on the part of local managers. if i can stock it, and if it sells, any book would be prominently displayed (case in point, laura ingrahm’s book, which was on our bestseller wall and various in store displays.)
