One of America’s great libertarian philosophers, Ron Swanson of the NBC show Parks and Recreation, once counseled a colleague to “never half-ass two things.”
“Whole-ass one thing,” Swanson advised.
Since his landmark recall victory in June 2012, Wisconsin governor Scott Walker has left Swanson’s sage advice unheeded. Walker, riding a wave of positive media coverage and looking to cash in on a wealth of conservative goodwill earned at the expense of the public-sector unions, has been trying to whole-ass two major endeavors.
