The Naughty Nineties

I’m pretty good at avoiding content I think will annoy my beliefs.

I don’t mean content that I think will challenge my beliefs. I’m still open to that, even seek it out sometimes. Try to at least. I’m sure I could be better.

But the odd lefty podcast I listen to or essay-length bit of devil’s advocacy I read is at least discursive. It’s about persuasion, making an argument.

Not every bit of worthwhile content has to be about that, of course. (Why yes, I am lowering the stakes for this column!) It’s perfectly fine to make things exclusively for people who are
