Conservatives like to recall a New York Times headline and article expressing wonder that an increase in prison construction and a decrease in crime rates were occurring simultaneously. In the same category belongs an article in today’s paper under the headline “In New Budget, Britain Sticks to a Path of Austerity, Despite Slowing Growth.” Gee, you mean growth is slowing, so they try to fix the problem by reducing government spending? What will those crazy Brits think of next? (You could almost call them tea partiers, except the British have always been fond of tea.)
