Anderson Cooper: Press Hasn’t Just “Rediscovered” Its Spine

All the discussion lately about how the press corps has recovered its backbone in the aftermath of Katrina presupposes that at one point that backbone was missing. Because Anderson Cooper’s on-air blow-up at Sen. Mary Landrieu provided the spark for this discussion, I thought what he said on Real Time with Bill Maher last Friday was pretty interesting:
