<a href="http://finkelblog.com/index.php/2009/02/24/matthews-declares-obama-speech-churchillian—before-its-delivered/-1901″>FinkelBlog reports that in typical form, Chris Matthews found Obama’s speech before Congress to be “Churchillian,” even before it was uttered:
Here’s the key line, I think, though there will be others. “The day of reckoning has arrived,” this is Senator, this is President Obama.”The day of reckoning has arrived. The time to take charge of our future is here.” This is Churchillian.
Isn’t it funny how liberals seem thrilled at lines that, divorced from all association from their hero, are cliched and trite? Pat Buchanan cracked back: “I don’t remember Churchill saying ‘This wasn’t my fault!’”
Better yet, he could have said: “Chris, you’re not allowed to compare Obama to Churchill when Obama’s throwing Churchill’s bronze bust out of the White House and sending it back to the Brits.”
