As Greg noted below, the Chicago Tribune calls for the resignation of US Sen. Roland Burris (D-IL) in a harsh editorial published today. Beyond thrashing Burris, the piece calls out state Democratic leaders for sitting on his latest affadvit for more than a week. The Trib’s bottom line?
Disgraceful. Disgraceful all around.
There’s only one honorable action for Burris: resign.
Strip this whole wretched process out of the hands of the politicians and give it back to the people.
Meanwhile, a prominent Illinois House Democrat, Jack Franks, is scheduled to hold a press conference at 3pm today. I’m told he’s also going to urge Burris to resign. What a mess.
