CNN’s Your World Today is covering Pat Robertson’s comment that the U.S. should assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez as if Dick Cheney had said it. CNN just aired a segment live from Havana and is promising more to come this hour.
Meanwhile, darlings of the left like, well, to take a recent example, Cindy Sheehan, can say things like “We might not even have been attacked by Osama Bin Laden” and it goes totally unreported in the mainstream press. I’m not trying to defend Pat Robertson, but there’s a totally different standard for conservatives who say crazy things than liberals — especially anti-war liberals — who do.
UPDATE: Trust me, I’m no fan of Pat Robertson. I think it’s fine that reporters are calling him out on this. I just hate that these same reporters develop a sudden blindness for bizarre and inappropriate remarks when they’re coming from Howard Dean, Dick Durbin or, yes, Cindy Sheehan, who called the foreign terrorists streaming into Iraq “freedom fighters.” (via Pittsburgh Media Watch)
