Crying “Breaking News”

I’m so used to seeing “Fox News Alerts” that when something truly newsworthy happens I often miss the story. Take the situation at Virginia Tech this morning. 22 people are dead. When I saw it out of the corner of my eye, I assumed whatever was going on was another cable-news overhype — they do it with car chases, with unidentified packages, etc. I was wrong. But I know how I got there.
What an awful story.
