Dems Blame the Media; Turn on Obama

A couple weeks ago, Dylan Byers of Politco wrote a piece titled, “For Romney campaign, a problem with the blame-stream media.”

I look forward to his follow-up piece asking if the new Dem strategy to blame Jim Lehrer for last night’s miserable debate performance is a losing strategy as well. Some highlights from the Left on last night:

Democrats weren’t pleased about with Lehrer either. Stephanie Cutter, Obama’s deputy campaign manager, told CNN that “I wondered if we needed a moderator since we had Mitt Romney.” On MSNBC, commentator Rachel Maddow said that Romney “spent much of the night battling not just President Obama, but also the moderator of the debate, Jim Lehrer. And Mr. Romney won every exchange.”

The Huffington Post also tweeted: “Mitt Romney and Barack Obama moderated this debate. Where was Jim Lehrer?”

At least the great placenta-hunter Andrew Sullivan was honest about the debacle:

How is Obama’s closing so f***ing sad, confused, lame? He choked. He lost. He may even have lost election tonight. http://thebea.st/RdXvE9

And later. . .

Look: you know how much I love the guy, and how much of a high info viewer I am, but this was a disaster for Obama. http://thebea.st/RdXvE9

Oh, well. If Obama loses, Sullivan can resume his quest to discover the TRUE story of Trig’s birth.

Michael Moore piled on:

This is what happens when u pick John Kerry as your debate coach.

Yeah. Totally Kerry’s fault. And Bush’s. And Haliburton, too, if we dig deep enough. Moore adds. . .

What’s that silence I hear? No one throwing a party? No one saying this election is a slam dunk for Obama? What happened to the victory lap?

But the statement of the night comes from Obama’s million-dollar Super-PAC donor Bill Maher:

i can’t believe i’m saying this, but Obama looks like he DOES need a teleprompter

Hey Bill: your million dollar donation to the cause? Yeah, you built that last night. Kudos!
