Do We Really Need a More Cynical Media?

NBC’s Brian Williams is happy to see more cynicism in the media:

I don’t know what’s more amazing — that Williams and many other journalists really seem to believe that the media have been giving Bush a free ride for “the past couple of years” (National Guard docs forged, Social Security reform eviscerated, Karl Rove hunted, Cindy Sheehan beatified, Bush blamed for a Hurricane); or that cynicism is valued over critical thinking.
