Andy McCarthy posts over in the Corner how President Obama has donated $200,000 to the charities of Quaddafi’s children, daughter Aisha and son Saif.
The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at U.S. President George W. Bush was given a bravery award on Monday by a Libyan charity group chaired by leader Muammar Gaddafi’s daughter.
The charity group Wa Attassimou also urged the Iraqi government to release television reporter Muntazer al-Zaidi after he was detained on Sunday for hurling footwear at Bush and calling the president a “dog” — both severe insults in the Middle East.
“Waatassimou group has taken the decision to give Muntazer al-Zaidi the courage award … because what he did represents a victory for human rights across the world,” the group, headed by Aicha Gaddafi, said in a statement.
Aisha also has a legal career and was on the Saddam Hussein’s legal defense team.
And here’s a little nugget on Saif:
It is not the first time he has attracted controversy on this most sensitive issue in Anglo-Libyan relations. Last year Saif complained that relatives of some of the 270 victims of Pan Am flight 103 were “greedy” — after Libya had agreed a $2.7bn (£1.64bn) compensation payout and accepted “responsibility for the actions of its officials”.
Well, with ACORN no longer able to take taxpayer money, I guess you gotta give it to someone.
