Donald Trump Gets Skewered at the WHCA Dinner

Oh my. If you missed it last night — what? You weren’t watching C-SPAN on a Saturday night? — here are the clips of the comedy bits from last night’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. To say Donald Trump was skewered by the president and SNL’s Seth Meyers is probably an understatement. Turmp seemed to crack a slight smile at the first joke, but ended up sitting stone-faced once the jokes got more personal. Seth Meyers ended up with a standing ovation at the end — except for Donald Trump.

Basically, I’m with Dana Milbank that these events have become a perversion of their original purpose, but I understand why the president was so harsh with his jokes. He figuratively punched Donald Trump in the nose, and quite possibly, knocked him out of the 2012 race.

Long before the Left fell headlong into the logical termini of its triune fascination with race, power, and privilege, O’Rourke sensed that there ... Read More

The Trump Steamroller

As we settle into high summer and the period of maximum difficulty in finding anything to fill in hours of television news, especially 24/7 news television, two well-established political trends are emerging in this pre-electoral period: The president’s opponents continue to dig themselves into foxholes that ... Why Was Richard Spencer on CNN?

Self-avowed white nationalist Richard Spencer went on CNN yesterday. What he said isn't particularly interesting, because Richard Spencer isn't particularly interesting. What is interesting, at least in the sense that a multi-car pile up on the side of the interstate is interesting, is the bastard logic of the ... Read More
