Egregious Editorializing …

… from the Associated Press, as noted by one of our beloved readers:

As if anyone needs any more examples of AP bias, a short article published in the Sunday, July 27th edition of the Las Vegas Review-Journal opened like this:

Senate Republicans block measure on aid for poor

— The Associated Press

Washington – Republicans on Saturday blocked the Senate from considering a bill this week that would nearly double federal aid to help the poor pay heating and cooling bills.
Although a dozen Republicans support the measure, most voted with GOP leaders who would rather spend the time trumpeting their call to expand offshore drilling before Congress takes six weeks off.

The article then devotes a few paragraphs to the details of the bill and includes quotes from Harry Reid and a member of John Ensign’s staff, but I was blown away by the editorializing in the second paragraph of what was supposed to be a news story.

It cannot be noted too often: Practically every newspaper in America, large and small, with liberal editors or conservative editors, relies upon the reliably biased AP for much of its political coverage. It’s the most pervasive source of print bias in the country.
Many thanks to the readers who send us examples of AP bias from their local papers. Keep ‘em coming!
