New York Times columnist Frank Rich admits in a recent interview that he ”track[s] toward being liberal” but argues that he’s “not a part of either political party.” The exchange reminded me of this video that Nate Goulding and I found on TimesSelect awhile back. In it, Rich tries to make the same argument, but when he tries to say “Republican,” he has visible difficulty even saying the word, and actually seems to choke on it:
