Government Intimidation, Chicago Style

Have you heard this story?  Probably not:

Illinois Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias [my note: Democrat] is threatening to pull state business from Wells Fargo & Co. unless the bank stops trying to liquidate a company that makes suits for President Barack Obama.

Giannoulias made the ultimatum outside a Hartmarx Corp. factory in Des Plaines Thursday. Chicago-based Hartmarx is the nation’s largest maker of men’s tailored clothing.

The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Jan. 23. It employs about 3,000 workers represented by the Service Employees International Union.

The message from this top state official is crystal clear:  Hey Wells Fargo, it would be a real shame if something bad were to happen to your bank, especially if you keep causing headaches for our buddies at the SEIUPlus, the company you’re so heartlessly trying to liquidate manufactures the elegant suits that adorn our Dear Leader’s well-sculpted body.  Back off, or else.

What a nasty little piece of bullying.  Between the systemic corruption, entrenched pay-to-play culture, and oppressive tax rates, perhaps our state should install border signs that read, “Welcome to Illinois: Businesses Enter At Own Risk.”
