Hamas detains Palestinian journalist for not wearing headscarf

Hamas security forces arrested a female journalist at a Gaza beach over the weekend because she was not wearing a headscarf.
Asma al-Ghul, who is a reporter for the Palestinian daily Al-Ayam, said she was at the beach with a group of male and female friends when Hamas militiamen took her in to custody for not wearing a headscarf. Palestinian society is traditionally less Islamic than some other Arab societies but Hamas want to change that, as well as destroy America’s ally Israel.
Hamas security forces have been confiscating alcohol recently as well as raiding hotels catering to foreigners to check for unmarried couples.
And yet last week, former president Jimmy Carter and former secretary of state James Baker, called on President Barack Obama to initiate a peace dialogue with Hamas “without delay”. (See also the first video on that link for a recent example of Hamas torturing political opponents in Gaza.)
