As the News of the World Turns

If you’ve got incriminating information on a laptop, you just don’t throw it away without destroying the hard drive. Telegraph:

The items were found in a bag in an underground car park at the Design Centre in Chelsea Harbour, just yards from where the former News International chief executive lives with her husband, the horse trainer Charlie Brooks.

The bag is understood to have been found by a cleaner who handed it in to security on Monday afternoon at around 3pm.

Mr Brooks then tried to claim the bag but was unable to prove it was his.

Security guards at the car park called the police, who took the bag and its documents away for analysis.

The Guardian reported that two marked police cars and an unmarked forensic car arrived to collect the bag and its contents.

Detectives are also understood be examining CCTV footage to see how the bag made it into the car park.

David Wilson, a spokesman for Mr Brooks, said the bag had been dropped off by a friend who had left it in the wrong place, possibly leading to be it being binned by a cleaner.

Sounds like the next step is to activate the Torchwood team to get to the bottom of this mess.
