As a friend sums it up:

You may have heard that more than 6.8 million new jobs have been created in the last three years, or that the economy has grown faster than any other major industrialized nation over the past four quarters, or that a steep drop in gas prices is keeping costs down for American families, or that after-tax income is up by nearly 10 percent since President Bush took office, or that the unemployment rate is at a 5-year low.
