Aw, man. Awww, man. If I wince any more, I’m going to pop out my contact lenses. The New Orleans Times-Picayune: “Alleging a plot to tamper with phones in Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu’s office in the Hale Boggs Federal Building in downtown New Orleans, the FBI arrested four people Monday, including James O’Keefe, 25, a conservative filmmaker whose undercover videos at ACORN field offices severely damaged the advocacy group’s credibility.”
Townhall’s Jillian Bandes: “Uh. That’s illegal. Just ask Nixon.”
The Jawa Report: “The MSM had to be dragged kicking and screaming into acknowledging this guy even existed at all when he was destroying ACORN’s credibility and exposing ACORN’s violations of the law/abuse of taxpayer funds. For weeks. For some reason, I don’t think they’re going to have a problem covering this story quickly. Not that it doesn’t deserve coverage.”
Michelle Malkin doesn’t want to hear any excuses: “This is neither a time to joke nor a time to recklessly accuse Democrats/liberals of setting this up — nor a time to whine about media coverage double standards. Deal with what’s on the table.”
Megan McArdle: “James O’Keefe, the guy who did the ACORN sting, doesn’t seem to understand the difference between a completely legal recording of an interview between you and someone else, and a completely illegal and reprehensible wiretapping of someone’s phones. Journalists are not spies, and there are very good reasons that you need a warrant to bug a telephone system or otherwise eavesdrop on third-party conversations. Like many 24-year olds, he may not have fully appreciated why what he was doing was wrong, but if the allegations are true, I hope that the judge explains it to him while handing down a stiff penalty.”
Andrew Breitbart: “We have no knowledge about or connection to any alleged acts and events involving James O’Keefe at Senator Mary Landrieu’s office. We only just learned about the alleged incident this afternoon. We have no information other than what has been reported publicly by the press. Accordingly, we simply are not in a position to make any further comment.”
