Paul Krugman Wins Nobel for Economics

The problem with being both a respected academic and a (kind of shrill and hysterical) newspaper columnist is that when you win the Nobel, there will be some question about whether it was exclusively for your highly regarded scholarly work or whether the timing of the award was largely political.
I’m in no way positioned to evaluate Krugman as an economist, other than to note that he is highly respected by credible economists of many political inclinations, which argues in his favor. So, congratulations to Paul Krugman, who might take this opportunity to reconsider whether his own comparative advantage is in being another predictably angry liberal writing for the New York Times.
