PEJ Launches News Index

The Project for Excellence in Journalism has posted its inaugural News Index, a breakdown of which stories get covered and which stories don’t across a variety of media on a weekly basis (blogosphere included). E&P’s Joe Strupp reports that PEJ will be sharing its index with the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, which uses surveys to gauge the public’s reaction to news coverage. Looks like a promising source of data. This is something to keep an eye on. PEJ will update its News Index every week on Tuesdays.
