Quote of the Day (Already!)

Harrold, Texas, will allow teachers to carry handguns to school. Superintendent David Thweatt says teachers need to be able to defend themselves and their students:

“When the federal government started making schools gun-free zones, that’s when all of these shootings started. Why would you put it out there that a group of people can’t defend themselves? That’s like saying ‘sic ‘em’ to a dog,” Thweatt said in Friday’s online edition of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

“Sic ‘em to a dog” — that quote is a thing of beauty. Harrold is in a pretty well-armed neighborhood — I’d guess the average life expectancy of a carjacker in that part of the world is about eleven seconds — and they’ll probably have the safest campus in America.
