Dear NRO Media Blog:
Jeffrey Klein’s Huffington Post implication that McCain was given a top assignment because of his family connections is exactly wrong.
What is it with these people that they think being a fighter pilot is something just any idiot can do? There is simply no way to fake being a pilot, especially a carrier pilot. Anyone who’s ever seen footage of a carrier landing should know this. It’s an extremely demanding, difficult, and dangerous job.
To give such an assignment to someone unqualified wouldn’t be an act of patronage, it would be a death sentence, for the pilot and those on the carrier deck.
