Seth Mnookin Goes Back Inside the NY Times

… to explore the Judith Miller saga for the upcoming Vanity Fair, Editor & Publisher reports. Mnookin wrote Hard News, a definitive account of the Jayson Blair scandal and downfall of Howell Raines. That book was hard on publisher Arthur Sulzberger, Jr. and E&P reports that this latest article is equally critical.
If several sources to whom I’ve spoken are right, Sulzberger is the driving force behind the NY Times unapologetic transformation from the paper of record to, in Mediacrity’s apt phrasing, a daily edition of Counterpunch. Mnookin has been a great chronicler of the Times’ inner workings in the past. This piece should be worth a read.
