Seven Out of Ten Journalists Report Bias Accusations

Via Romenesko, a new journalism survey finds that 7 out of 10 journalists surveyed were accused of media bias last year.

Of those who had been accused of bias in the past 12 months, most “often blame poor editing as contributing to inaccuracy in their articles.” Sources, anonymous or not, also were viewed as “problematic and potentially leading to factual errors,” the report stated.

Deceptive sources come with the territory. The problem, as illustrated by a couple of recent high-profile corrections in the New York Times, comes when those sources aren’t treated with enough skepticism.
