Spitzer Talks Weiner with Abrams

On his CNN show last night, Eliot Spitzer talked with Dan Abrams about Anthony Weiner’s resignation. While Spitzer thought the media’s coverage of the scandal was over the top, Abrams defended it, noting that Weiner had lied repeatedly on camera before the truth about the photos came out. Abrams didn’t think Weiner’s political days were over, however, and even predicted his return to New York City politics within three years, citing the public’s increased tendency to forgive polticians for scandals like “Weinergate.” He also thought one factor that went into Weiner’s resignation was that he did not want to go through congressional ethics investigation, as it may uncover more material.
