Those Notorious Republican Shills at CNN

Wolf Blitzer actually asked Howard Dean some tough questions on CNN’s The Situation Room today. Dean delivered the following jewels:

BLITZER: Some, as you know, critics of the president, Kanye West, the rap artist, for example, have accused him of being a racist. I want you to listen to what the First Lady Laura Bush said last night. Listen to this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
FIRST LADY LAURA BUSH: I think all of those remarks were disgusting, to be perfectly frank, because, of course, President Bush cares about everyone in our country. And I know that. I mean, I am the person who lives with him. I know what he’s like and I know what he thinks, and I know how he cares about people.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
BLITZER: Do you agree with the first lady?
DEAN: No. I do not think that this president cares about everybody in America.

and

DEAN: I know Judge Roberts loves the law. I’m not sure he loves the American people.

Read the transcript — Blitzer was so dogged that at one point Dean got frustrated and accused Blitzer of recycling “Republican spin machine stuff.” This is after CNN’s Kyra Phillips got tough on House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, causing Pelosi to say, “If you want to make a case for the White House, go on their payroll.”
Democrats accusing CNN of working for the Republicans? One of my readers thinks it might be Dean and Pelosi on the White House payroll:

Nanci Pelosi and Howard Dean rock. No matter how bad the Republicans screw up, they are out there campaigning tirelessly to make the Democratic party seem shrill, out-of-touch, opportunistic, and irrational! So next time, even more voters will cast their vote thusly: “Jeeze, the Republicans suck, but at least they aren’t certifiably insane!”

For Democrats, the Party’s Over

If the Democrats are really tempted by impeachment, bring it on. Since the day after the 2016 election they have been threatening this, placing their chips on the Russian-collusion fantasy and then on the phantasmagoric charade of obstruction of justice. The attorney general accurately gave the ingredients of the ... Read More

The Worst Cover-Up of All Time

President Donald Trump may be guilty of many things, but a cover-up in the Mueller probe isn’t one of them. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, attempting to appease forces in the Democratic party eager for impeachment, is accusing him of one, with all the familiar Watergate connotations. The charge is strange, ... Read More

TV Before PC

Affixing one’s glance to the rear-view mirror is usually as ill-advised as staring at one’s own reflection. Still, what a delight it was on Wednesday to see a fresh rendition of “Those Were the Days,” from All in the Family, a show I haven’t watched for nearly 40 years. This time it was Woody Harrelson ... The Democrats’ Other Class War

There is a class war going on inside the Democratic party. Consider these two cris de couer: Writing in the New York Times under the headline “America’s Cities Are Unlivable — Blame Wealthy Liberals,” Farhad Manjoo argues that rich progressives have, through their political domination of cities such as ...
