A lot of praise is due to the Washington Post for its relentless reporting on the way agricultural subsidies actually work in the United States. The latest installment in the Post’s ongoing series exposes the myth that small family farms benefit most from subsidies. No other news organization has tackled this problem with the tenacity of the Post, either to avoid angering rural news consumers or because they think the problem might bore urban readers. Hats off to the Post for taking on this needless and wasteful program.
