GE owns NBC. NBC has the rights to broadcast the Beijing Olympics. So it’s not surprising that GE would run what has to be the sappiest and most idyllic portrait of life in rural China of all time. (Click on “Love Story”)
The whole point of the ad is to showcase how advanced medical imaging technology from GE is helping rural China “fall in love with modern healthcare.” Yeah, right.
But the funniest part of the ad is the end, which shows a waiting room full of rural Chinese who are suffering from every ailment under the sun, all to be helped through the magic of GE. Including the town goat who has what looks to be a broken leg…
I hope all the monks in Tibet are granted the same access to GE’s advanced imaging technology as farm animals from mainland China.
