Why did Reuters photographer Adnan Hajj even bother doctoring this photo? The only difference I can see between the doctored version and the original is that the doctored version looks clearly fake. Other than that, the two are very similar. Did he do it, as some have suggested, in order to make the damage look more severe? Why? The damage looks pretty bad in the original.
The only answer I can think of is that he doesn’t have enough ethics or common sense to know that doctoring photos and calling it news is a one-way ticket to unemployment, courtesy of the blogosphere, and he couldn’t resist making the destruction seem just a little bit worse. What other reason could there be?
