New York governor Andrew Cuomo spent his morning writing an open letter to President Trump and Congress demanding that they “do something” about gun violence after a school shooting in Texas killed at least eight people on Friday.

“Columbine. Virginia Tech. Sandy Hook. Las Vegas. Orlando. Parkland. And now, Santa Fe,” Cuomo wrote. “When is enough enough? How many more innocent people have to die before you act? You were elected to lead — do something.”
Ten are dead and at least ten injured after a shooter believed to be a student opened fire Friday morning during an art class at a high school in Santa Fe, Texas, near Houston. The suspect, a 17-year-old male, is injured and in custody, and an 18-year-old person of interest has been detained, law-enforcement officials said.
Cuomo has been an outspoken advocate of stricter gun control, especially since the Valentine’s Day school shooting in Parkland, Fla. that killed 17 people. In March, he joined students walking out of schools nationwide to demand stricter gun-control laws. His 2013 SAFE Act tightened background checks and made it harder to own an assault-style weapon in New York state, and this year he took credit for a newly passed state law that confiscates firearms from those convicted of domestic violence.
