Anti-Israel Protesters Face Off against LGBTQ Activists during Pride Parades: ‘No Pride with Genocide’

Anti-Israel protesters disrupted and blockaded pride parades on Sunday at the end of Pride Month, professing that there would be “no queer liberation without Palestinian liberation.”

New York police broke up one protest and arrested ten individuals, seven of whom the New York Police Department issued with criminal subpoenas. Protesters threw red paint to symbolize blood on passing cars, chanted, “free, free Palestine,” and shouted “over 40,000 dead” in reference to Hamas’s unverified death toll. Protesters also vandalized pride floats and said that there is “no pride with genocide.”

“Anti-Israel activists made an appearance in the NYC Pride Parade to signal solidarity with Hamas,” Rep. Ritchie Torres (D., N.Y.) said on X. “There is but one problem with Queers for Hamas: the love is not mutual. There is no Hamas for Queers. Hamas would never be caught dead in a gay pride parade because it wants gay people dead. Queers for Hamas has not yet gotten the memo. Maybe one day it will. Useful idiocy can be outgrown.”

Israel’s New York consulate announced last week that it would have a decreased presence at the pride parade due to safety concerns.

“This year, in light of the situation in Israel, we are slimming down our delegation to the parade,” consulate spokesman Itay Milner said. “But our commitment to the cause of equality for all remains foremost and unchanged.”

The St. Louis Grand Pride Parade in Missouri was also disrupted when anti-Israel protesters blocked LGBTQ activists in protest of the parade’s sponsor, Boeing, which produces arms for Israel. Police arrested multiple protesters, who chanted, “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

Topless protesters in Toronto, Canada, also marched in a Pride parade this weekend to condemn Israel’s supposed “genocide.” One partially-nude woman wore a keffiyeh around her face and drew “ACAB” (All Cops are Bad) on her arm with black marker. Some protesters shut down a section of the parade.

Anti-Israel protesters in San Francisco, California, organized a “no pride in genocide” march to counter the city’s pride parade. The anti-Israel march gathered nearly 1,000 “queer and trans people who reject the cooption of queerness in genocide and refuse to engage in a corporate, performative state sponsored pride that it is fundamentally unaligned with queerness as a liberatory act,” the march’s organizers said on social media.
