President Biden’s reelection campaign and the Democratic Party brought in $90 million in March, entering April with more than $192 million in cash on hand.
That means Biden’s cash-on-hand total is more than double that of former president Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee, which entered April with $93.1 million.
Trump and the RNC raised $65.6 million last month.
Biden’s big fundraising month was largely thanks to his State of the Union address and a huge Radio City Music Hall fundraiser that counted several celebrities and former President Obama and former president Clinton among its participants.
The month prior, Biden and the DNC raised $53 million.
“The money we are raising is historic, and it’s going to the critical work of building a winning operation, focused solely on the voters who will decide this election,” Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said Saturday.
“It’s a stark contrast to Trump’s cash-strapped operation that is funneling the limited and billionaire-reliant funds it has to pay off his various legal fees,” she added.
Trump’s legal bills burned through $51.2 million last year alone. Without the RNC, estimates indicate Trump could deplete the funds of an allied super PAC by July.
Lara Trump suggested in public remarks last month that GOP voters would be supportive of the RNC paying for Trump’s legal bills, but has since walked those comments back in private conversations with members. Trump adviser Chris LaCivita has also repeatedly insisted to reporters that the RNC is not planning to divert funds to the former president’s legal battles.
Trump, meanwhile, is set to host a fundraiser in Palm Beach, Fla. on Saturday which is expected to bring in $43 million, according to the campaign, as the former president works to close the fundraising gap.
