Trump Slams Influx of Central American Immigrants

President Trump sounded off on a new wave of Central American immigrants headed to the U.S. border over the Easter weekend.

“They laugh at our dumb immigration laws,” Trump said of Mexico. “Our country is being stolen!”

Mexico has strong border laws while the U.S.’s are “pathetic,” the president continued. “They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA.”

He also ripped into Democrats for refusing to find a legislative fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, declaring, “DACA is dead.”

“DACA is dead because the Democrats didn’t care or act, and now everyone wants to get onto the DACA bandwagon… No longer works. Must build Wall and secure our borders with proper Border legislation. Democrats want No Borders, hence drugs and crime!” Trump tweeted Monday morning.

The president renewed his calls for tougher laws that will let ICE agents do their job as well as a border wall, which he said will stop the flow of “drugs and people” into America. He also called for the Senate to use the “nuclear option” to bypass Democratic blockage and pass immigration legislation.

A volunteer group  called Pueblos Sin Fronteras, (People Without Borders) headed up a “caravan” of Central Americans, most of whom headed to the U.S. over the weekend.

Organizers counted 1,200 people, around 80 percent from the Honduras, on the first day of the journey.

The Center for Immigration Studies reported that Mexican authorities permitted the caravan to pass “with relative ease.”
