Chelsea Clinton defended Ivanka Trump after late-night host Samantha Bee attacked her, calling her a “feckless c–t“ on Wednesday night.

“It’s grossly inappropriate and just flat-out wrong to describe or talk about Ivanka Trump or any woman that way,” Clinton wrote on Twitter.

Clinton expressed pessimism, however, about expecting all sides of the political debate to avoid vulgar language.

“I keep hoping for consistency too, Oliver. Though I’m not holding my breath!” Clinton said in a tweet pointing out that country singer Ted Nugent once used the same crass term to refer to her mother, Hillary Clinton.

Bee’s comment came after Ivanka posted a picture of herself holding her 2-year-old son just as President Trump’s critics slammed him over a new policy to separate children from their guardians at the border as the adults are prosecuted for entering illegally.

Bee added that the president’s daughter should “put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to f–king stop it” during her TBS show, “Full Frontal.”

The comedian later apologized to Ivanka for using an expletive.

The White House condemned Bee’s remarks as “vile and vicious.”

“The collective silence and its media allies is appalling,” said White House press secretary Sarah Sanders in a statement. “Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executive at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network.”

“Samantha Bee has taken the right action in apologizing for the vile and inappropriate language she used about Ivanka Trump last night. Those words should not have been aired. It was our mistake too, and we regret it,” her network, TBS, stated.
