Democrats have been far from quiet since President Trump tweeted their party has let down the so-called DREAMers.
“DACA is dead because the Democrats didn’t care or act, and now everyone wants to get onto the DACA bandwagon,” the president tweeted on Monday.

The president excoriated congressional Democrats for opposing funding for the border wall he says is badly needed. Border-patrol agents are hampered in doing their job, Trump said, due to “ridiculous liberal (Democrat)” laws such as “catch and release.”
Keith Ellison, deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, accused the president of cancelling the DACA program without a plan for the DREAMers, killing bipartisan deals, and making racist remarks.

California senator Dianne Feinstein agreed, saying Democrats worked “in good faith” and supported “flawed” bills with the endgame of finding a legislative fix for DACA.
Democrats worked in good faith for months to come to an agreement to protect Dreamers. We agreed to support flawed bills that included provisions we oppose, like funding for the border wall, to get it done, but the president still said ‘no.’ He walked away—not Democrats.

Representative Dwight Evans of Pennsylvania said that turning DREAMers away “runs counter to who we are as a country.”
#DREAMers are our students, military service members, teachers, scientists, doctors, and lawyers—they are integral members of our community. Turning them away runs counter to who we are as a country.
