The Trump administration is urging local authorities in Fairfax County, Virginia not to release a 19-year-old illegal immigrant accused of sexually assaulting multiple teenage girls.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement is requesting that Salvadoran illegal alien Israel Christopher Flores-Ortiz remain in custody even though Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger (D) has ended the state’s cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

“This 19-year-old criminal illegal alien should NOT have been attending a [Virginia] high school and allowed to prey on innocent teenage girls. He now faces nine counts of assault and battery. This is yet another example of the Biden Administration’s failed open border policies,” said DHS deputy assistant secretary Lauren Bis.

“We are calling on Fairfax County sanctuary politicians to NOT release this predator from jail back into our communities to assault more teenage women. Unfortunately, Governor Abigail Spanberger ended cooperation with ICE and is siding with criminal illegal aliens over American citizens.”

Fairfax County has a so-called Trust Policy that largely does not allow local police to contact ICE when they have an illegal alien in custody and Fairfax County Sheriff Stacey Kinkaid does not honor ICE detainer requests.

Flores-Ortiz is facing nine counts of assault and battery for allegedly assaulting numerous teenage girls while attending a local high school. He arrived to the U.S. in 2024 and the Biden administration released him into the country, consistent with its lax approach to illegal immigration.

Despite his age, Flores-Ortiz was enrolled as an eleventh grader at Fairfax High School. He is being accused of groping girls in the hallway during school by sneaking up behind them and putting his hand between their legs. Almost a dozen girls have come forward to accuse Flores-Ortiz of sexual assault, and some parents are furious the school did not act sooner, according to local ABC affiliate 7news.

“While Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is unable to comment on specifics due to federal and state privacy laws, we prioritize student and staff safety and we fully investigate any time someone shares that an incident has occurred at school, or that they do not feel safe at school. We are grateful to our law enforcement partners who continue to work swiftly and thoroughly when there are safety concerns in our schools. The safety of all FCPS students and staff remains a top priority,” FCPS told the outlet.

After Flores-Ortiz was arrested last week, ICE issued a detainer in order to initiate deportation proceedings, but Fairfax County does not appear to be cooperating.

Last week, a judge rejected Flores-Ortiz’s request to be released from jail, despite Fairfax county prosecutor Steve Descano agreeing to the illegal immigrant’s bail request. Descano is a progressive prosecutor known among conservatives for his soft-on-crime approach, which came under greater scrutiny earlier this year after the fatal stabbing of Stephanie Minter. While waiting at a bus stop, Minter was allegedly attacked by Abdul Jalloh, an illegal immigrant who had been charged more than 40 times, including for egregious crimes such as aggravated assault, malicious wounding, and rape.

Jalloh is just one of several illegal aliens who have had violent charges dropped by Descano.
