At least fourteen people were reportedly wounded, two seriously, in a stabbing attack aboard a bus in the German city of Luebeck on Friday.

The attacker is in police custody, according to unconfirmed local reports out of Schleswig-Holstein, the state in the northern part of the country that contains Luebeck. The crowded bus was reportedly en route to a popular area beach when the attacker pulled his knife.

“There is currently a major police deployment in Luebeck. We are examining the situation and will give more information later,” police said.

One eyewitness described the scene outside of the bus to local newspaper Lübecker Nachrichten.

“The passengers jumped off the bus and screamed. It was terrible. Then the injured were taken away. The perpetrator had a kitchen knife,” the bystander said.
