Hunter College professor Shellyne Rodriguez, who vandalized a pro-life display earlier this month and has now threatened a New York Post reporter with a machete, has been fired.

Vince DiMiceli, the college’s associate vice president of communications, confirmed to National Review that Rodriguez’s employment has been terminated. “Hunter College strongly condemns the unacceptable actions of Shellyne Rodriguez, and has taken immediate action. Rodriguez has been relieved of her duties at Hunter College effective immediately, and will not be returning to teach at the school,” DiMiceli said.

The adjunct art professor reacted aggressively when she encountered students handing out pro-life material at an information table on campus early in May. “You’re not educating sh**. This is f***ing propaganda,” Rodriguez said.

“This is violent. You’re triggering my students,” she added, shoving the group’s pamphlets and other items off the table.

When news broke of the incident this week, Reuven Fenton, a New York Post reporter, knocked on Rodriguez’s front door for an interview. What happened next shocked Fenton, who said he has knocked on doors countless times on the job.

Appearing Tuesday on Fox News’s Hannity, Fenton said: “We just wanted to speak to this woman.”

“I got a bit of a surprise when she opened the door. This was a first for me. She first verbally threatened to chop us up with the machete and then proceeded to come out of her apartment, brandishing the blade and pressing it against the side of my neck for about a second and then she realized she was being recorded and went back inside,” Fenton explained.

Rodriguez later chased Fenton and his companions down the street with the machete, according to the Post.

Asked if he would press changes against Rodriguez, Fenton said he has yet to figure that out.

“I am in discussions about what to do next,” Fenton said.
