Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly punched Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer at a retail and entertainment venue on Saturday.
“Earlier this evening, while at Fourth Street Live, Mayor Fischer was punched by an individual,” the Louisville Metro Police Department said in a Facebook post. “The Mayor is doing fine.”
The police department shared photos of the alleged suspect on its social media accounts on Saturday.

It’s unclear whether the suspect targeted the Democratic mayor or if the attack at Fourth Street Live was random. Authorities did not say what happened in the moments before the assault occurred.
The third-term mayor is not eligible to run again due to term limits. Craig Greenberg, the 2022 Democratic nominee to replace Fischer, urged the suspect to “turn themselves in.”
“We cannot solve our disagreements with violence,” he wrote in a tweet.
