Maxine Waters Faces Criticism After Calling for More Harassment of Trump Aides

Representative Maxine Waters encouraged what a CNN panel called a “mob mentality on the left” over the weekend, calling on supporters to continue harassing Trump aides in public.

“I have no sympathy for these people that are in this administration who, you know, know it is wrong what they are doing on so many fronts but they tend to not want to confront this president or even leave,” the California Democrat said Saturday on MSNBC.

She called on people to resist the administration by “absolutely harassing” its members until they leave over the Justice Department policy of detaining illegal immigrant parents separately from their children.

“And I want to tell you, for these members of his cabinet who remain and try to defend him, they are not going to be able to go to a restaurant, they are not going to be able to stop at a gas station, they are not going to be able to shop in a department store,” she continued. “The people are going to turn on them, they are gonna protest, they are gonna absolutely harass them until they decide that they are going to tell the president ‘No, I can’t hang with you. This is wrong. This is unconscionable. We can’t keep doing this to children.'”

President Trump signed an executive order last week discouraging separating immigrant children from their families as the adults are prosecuted for illegal entry.

Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was shouted out of a Washington, D.C. Mexican restaurant by protesters last week.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was also asked to leave the Red Hen restaurant in Virginia for her work in an “inhumane and unethical” administration, according to the owner.

Waters repeated her comments at a California rally, urging listeners to “tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

She called again for the president to be impeached.

Her comments were met with mixed reactions, some Twitter users calling her a hero while some shook their heads at her acrimonious solution.
