MSNBC’s Katy Tur suggested that Pennsylvania senator-elect John Fetterman might be destined for the White House after Fetterman was projected to prevail over his Republican opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz, on Wednesday.
“What he did in the super red, deep red parts of Pennsylvania, and the way that he ran ahead of Biden… ran ahead of Trump, it just makes, makes you wonder about his future,” said Tur, who said that she could envision “Fetterman as a nominee at some point for president.”

Fetterman defeated Oz despite suffering a debilitating stroke in May. While he and his campaign have insisted that he has suffered no cognitive decline as a result, his performance on the campaign trail — and especially during the lone debate in which he participated — raised serious questions.
On stage with Oz, Fetterman shouted at odd times. When asked to provide evidence for his claim that Oz would vote for cuts to Social Security and Medicare, he replied “I can’t just say one thing other than that Dr. Oz would not support, and he would support cutting Medicare.” He was visibly confused by a question about his flip-flop on fracking.

And after an interview with NBC News’s Dasha Burns, Burns noted that without the use of closed-captioning technology, Fetterman seemingly was unable to follow the course of their conversation.
With 97 percent of the vote in Pennsylvania reporting, Fetterman holds a 4.3 point lead over Oz, who narrowly secured the Republican nomination after being endorsed by former president Donald Trump.
