Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R., Ga.) criticized Representative Lauren Boebert (R., Colo.) on Thursday over her opposition to House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy’s bid for the speakership.
“I’m not sure how Lauren Boebert on one hand can demand so much out of Kevin McCarthy, but then demand nothing out of someone else and be willing to vote for them to be speaker,” Greene told CNN. “That’s not serious, I don’t think that’s leadership, and I really see it as more obstruction.”

Boebert has said there is nothing McCarthy can do to win her over because he can’t be trusted, according to the Washington Post.
A group of 20 GOP holdouts have kept McCarthy from reaching the 218 votes needed to win the speakership in ten rounds of voting this week, marking the first time in 164 years that a speakership vote has taken more than nine rounds.
Boebert nominated Representative Kevin Herd of Oklahoma during the ninth round of voting. He received a total of three votes. Herd, the chairman of the Republican Study Committee, has supported McCarthy throughout the speaker-election process, though he has reportedly not ruled out his own bid for the post.
McCarthy offered new concessions to his detractors on Thursday after six rounds of failed votes.
He offered to lower the threshold of members required to trigger a vote of no confidence in the speaker to just a single member, days after first lowering the threshold to five members, according to the Wall Street Journal.
McCarthy has also reportedly offered some of the members who have opposed his bid additional seats on powerful committees such as the House Rules Committee. McCarthy is reportedly weighing other compromises, including a vote on term limits for House members and a pledge to introduce a controversial border plan for a vote.
Former president Donald Trump attempted to gin up support for McCarthy on Wednesday.
“[I]t’s now time for all of our GREAT Republican House Members to VOTE FOR KEVIN, CLOSE THE DEAL, TAKE THE VICTORY, & WATCH CRAZY NANCY PELOSI FLY BACK HOME TO A VERY BROKEN CALIFORNIA, THE ONLY SPEAKER IN U.S. HISTORY TO HAVE LOST THE ‘HOUSE’ TWICE!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
However, Boebert suggested on the House floor on Wednesday that Trump should tell McCarthy, “Sir, you do not have the votes, and it’s time to withdraw.”
Greene is not the first House Republican to express frustration with the GOP holdouts.
Representative Dan Crenshaw (R., Texas) on Wednesday slammed the group, saying: “I’m tired of your stupid platitudes that some consultant told you to say on the campaign trail, alright. Behind closed doors tell us what you actually want, or shut the f*** up,” according to the Washington Post’s Dylan Wells.
