In her Republican rebuttal to the State of the Union address Tuesday, newly elected Arkansas governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that the Biden administration has been hijacked by the woke left, fostering an absurd political environment in which “the choice is between normal or crazy.”

Sanders, who previously served as press secretary to former president Trump, began her speech by drawing a generational juxtaposition with Biden, noting that, at 40, she’s the youngest sitting governor, while Biden is the oldest ever sitting president.

“I’m the first woman to lead my state. And he’s the first man to surrender his presidency to a woke mob that can’t even tell you what woman is,” she said.

She went on to argue that Biden has been captured by the progressive wing of the Democratic party and its radical platform, “whether he believes it or not.”

The Biden administration “has been completely hijacked by the radical left,” she said, adding that America’s political “choice is no longer between right or left. The choice is between normal or crazy.”

Biden inherited a secure border, a relatively robust pre-Covid economy, a rebuilt military, and a peaceful world order from his predecessor, but “Democrats destroyed it all” in two short years, Sanders argued.

The Biden administration’s permissive immigration policies have created “the worst border crisis in American history,” she said, with an unprecedented 2.2 million migrant encounters in 2022 under Biden’s watch.

Biden also doesn’t inspire confidence in American strength when engaging with foreign leaders, Sanders said, noting that his “weakness puts our nation and the world at risk.”

Alluding to the Chinese surveillance balloon that violated U.S. airspace over Montana last week, Sanders blasted “Biden’s refusal to stand up to China, our most formidable adversary.”

Even though the balloon drifted in the air for days before the military finally shot it down Saturday, in his speech Tuesday night Biden bragged about his administration’s supposed show of resolve against China.

“But make no mistake: as we made clear last week, if China’s threatens our sovereignty, we will act to protect our country. And we did,” he said. “And let’s be clear: winning the competition with China should unite all of us. We face serious challenges across the world. Not anymore.”

Sanders disagreed, blasting Biden as “unwilling to defend our skies, our border, and our people.”

“He is unfit to serve as commander in chief,” she said.
