Senate Receives Four Statements Claiming Ford Described Allegations in Recent Years

The attorneys representing Christine Blasey Ford have sent four sworn statements to the Senate Judiciary Committee signed by Ford’s husband and three friends who claim she told them in recent years that Kavanaugh assaulted her, USA Today reported Wednesday.

Ford’s husband, Russell, says he first learned of the alleged assault, in which Kavanaugh is said to have pinned down Ford and groped her, in 2012 during a therapy session.

“I remember her saying that her attacker’s name was Brett Kavanaugh, that he was a successful lawyer who had grown up in Christine’s home town, and that he was well-known in the Washington D.C. community,” Russell Ford said.

Adela Gildo-Mazzon, Ford’s of more than ten years, claims she was told about the incident in 2013 over dinner.

“During our meal, Christine was visibly upset, so I asked her what was going on,” Gildo-Mazzon said in her declaration. “Christine told me she had been having a hard day because she was thinking about an assault she experienced when she was much younger. She said she had been almost raped by someone who was now a federal judge. She told me she had been trapped in a room with two drunken guys, and that she had escaped, ran away and hid.”

Another friend, Keith Koegler, claims Ford told him Kavanaugh assaulted her in 2016, when the pair were discussing the sentencing of Brock Turner, a Stanford University student found guilty of sexual assault.

“Christine expressed anger at Mr. Turner’s lenient sentence, stating that she was particularly bothered by it because she was assaulted in high school by a man who was now a federal judge in Washington, D.C.,” Koegler said.

Koegler claims Ford raised the issue again over email in June 2018 when Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy retired and she believed Kavanaugh might take his seat.

Rebecca White, a friend and neighbor, said Ford told her about the attack after she posted on social media about her own sexual assault.

Kavanaugh and Ford are scheduled to testify publicly Thursday before the Judiciary Committee and Kavanuagh’s confirmation vote is scheduled for Friday morning.
